Clinical Negligence

Campbell Fitzpatrick have developed a reputation for success in the highly specialised area of clinical negligence.   This has grown from involvement in a number of high profile cases in the late 1980's and 1990's, and our involvement in drug related class action litigation.  Not all grievances require litigation, we advise on and assist in complaints procedures, inquests and possible alternative dispute resolution (ADR).  Litigation often however becomes the only realistic remedy.

Selected Partners and two of the Assistant Solicitors have over the years acquired the necessary skills for handling such potentially complex cases through training and attendance at many seminars on the subject.   Client care in particular is all important; a sensitivity to what clients have been through, an ability to identify the issues both medical and legal are essential; an ability to read and understand medical records, preparedness to allocate sufficient time, selection of suitable experts and detailed knowledge of Court procedure are a minimum requirement for practice in this field.  The firm believes it has built its reputation by ensuring such standards are met and adhered to.  With the result Campbell Fitzpatrick handle a significant and ever growing number of clinical negligence cases for victims or sufferers of medical mistake, accident or malpractice.

While most referrals come by word of mouth, many come from victims support groups, Advice Centres and from other Solicitors who recognise the need for specialist advice.  The most notable Support Group referring work is the victims support charity AVMA.  It is through a longstanding working association with Action for Victims of Medical Accidents (AVMA) based in London that one of the Partners acts as their referral Panel Solicitor for Northern Ireland.  Click to view our Panel Approval Certificate.

Those who may require advice or assistance from AVMA can access their Web Site at our 'Links page'.

Those who believe they may have been the victim of a medical accident and who may require Legal Advice are welcome to contact us by clicking on the 'E-Mail' or 'Contact Us' buttons.  We will be happy to give advice on various means of funding i.e. legal aid and insurance etc.  Also, please note that your first interview is free.
